Mark 10:28

Then Peter began to say to Him, "See, we have left all and followed You."
Mark 10:28

We know that serving God requires surrender. If we want to be filled with His Spirit, then we need to be un-filled with ourselves. Jesus freely gives us life, redemption, peace, and eternal life, and all that we are asked to do is give Him our lives. Not always easy, but always worth it.

I find it interesting that Jesus answers Peter's remark in this verse by explaining that godly surrender is for "My sake and the gospel's sake" (Mark 10:29).

The Lord makes it very clear that the surrender that gives life is the kind that seeks nothing in return. It's not surrender only to obtain forgiveness of sin, or surrender only to obtain personal blessing. These things are the wonderful result of walking with Jesus, it's true, but it's surrender to Him for Him alone that makes all the difference. And yet, by honestly surrendering in this way, He promises to bless us abundantly.

Today, let's freely and happily give Jesus more of ourselves. In love with Him and His ways, letting the Lord enrich our lives with Himself until there is no more room for anything less in our hearts.
