Acts 16:25

But at midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the prisoners were listening to them.
Acts 16:25

Paul and Silas were imprisoned for nothing more than sharing the gospel of Christ, and for helping others in the name of God.

Arrested, beaten, and shackled for their efforts, they faced what appeared to be a hopeless future of suffering and probable death. And yet, at midnight, at the height of darkness in their lives, these guys chose to pray and sing songs of praise to God.

And the prisoners were listening to them.

When we are in the midst of a dark trial, choosing faith over defeat will not only make a difference in our lives, it will have an impact on others as well. The Lord freed Paul and Silas this very night from prison, and He caused the chains of every prisoner there to fall off, too. And those prisoners were freed with God-glorifying songs ringing in their ears.

May God shine brightly in us, even through the darkest of times, for the benefit of our lives, and for the lives of others.
